Anthropic Unveils Claude 4

Anthropic has launched its latest Claude 4 AI models Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4. These models promise enhanced reasoning, coding skills, and long-running task execution, making them some of the most advanced AI systems available today.

Anthropic’s flagship model Claude Opus 4 is designed for complex, long-running tasks. It reportedly worked autonomously for nearly seven hours on a code refactoring project at Rakuten. This demonstrates a jump in AI’s ability to maintain task continuity.

The model also outperformed OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 in coding benchmarks, scoring 72.5% on SWE-bench, compared to GPT-4.1’s 54.6%.

Meanwhile, Claude Sonnet 4 is a more efficient alternative to the previous Sonnet 3.7 model. It offers improved coding and reasoning capabilities, making it a strong contender in AI-assisted programming.

Anthropic has also introduced Claude Code, a tool integrated with GitHub Actions and JetBrains, that allows developers to collaborate seamlessly with AI during live projects.

Beyond coding, Claude 4 models are built for deep reasoning, which closely does mimicking human cognitive behavior. Anthropic claims these models are less prone to reward hacking, a common issue where AI takes shortcuts to complete tasks.

Techcrunch reported “Both paying users and users of the company’s free chatbot apps will get access to Sonnet 4 but only paying users will get access to Opus 4. For Anthropic’s API, via Amazon’s Bedrock platform and Google’s Vertex AI, Opus 4 will be priced at $15/$75 per million tokens (input/output) and Sonnet 4 at $3/$15 per million tokens (input/output).
