“Those that embrace AI… will be seen as the future leaders…” says Linkedin COO Dan Shapero: CNBC

AI is taking over the workplace, and top executives are making sure they don’t get left behind. According to LinkedIn, the number of C-suite leaders adding AI skills to their profiles has tripled in just two years. That’s a big shift, showing that AI knowledge is now a key part of leadership. This is based on research on more than 1 million senior leaders, according to LinkedIn.

LinkedIn COO Dan Shapero believes leaders can’t just introduce AI tools—they need to show how they’re using them in daily work. This means employees who use AI early could have a major advantage. LinkedIn’s research found that 8 in 10 leaders are more likely to hire someone comfortable with AI tools.

“Those that embrace AI, are curious with the technology, and use it in their daily work will be seen as the future leaders at each company,” Shapero says.

“I’m not looking for the best prompt,” Shapero says. “What I do want to hear is that … you figured out how to embed it in your life because I think that shows forward thinking.”

For those hesitant to adopt AI in daily life, Shapero suggests starting with small steps. Try out AI for simple tasks at home, and seek out someone in your workplace who has adopted AI and ask what they do.

In today’s corporate world, AI is becoming as important as knowing how to use a computer. Now it’s your turn to keep up with the trend. Shapero says. “You’ll come up with the thing that works for you.”
